x1950 clock rates

Hi folks

I've just put together a new machine with a ATI X1950. Im new to ATI and looking in the catalyst controls I see it says current vpu clock 506 MHz and memory current clock 594 MHz. I thought the card ran at 650 MHz core and 1000 MHz - 2000 DDR. Does the mem and gpu clock throttle back when not being used hard ?

Those are 2D clocks, it switches to the 'requested' clocks when a full screen 3D game is running.

Its the 2D/3D Clocks.

the requested clocks are 3d, the others are 2d, they automatically switch when you enter a 3d application, eg a game.
