Hi there

Just built a PC for an m8!

E6600
AW9D-MAX
2GB GeIL PC2-6400
C3D X1950 XTX
OCZ 700W PSU
Raptor 74GB

Installed windows XPfine, installed supplied VGA drivers which include NET framework. Fan still remains at full speed. :(

So installed all motherboard drivers etc. etc. fan still at full speed.

Installed SP2 edition, fan still at full speed.

Uninstalled drivers, re-installed latest 6.10 from ATI, fan still at full speed.

Anyone come across this issue, is there a fix? Not seen this before.
Also there is an unknown device ID in device manager and I am guessing this maybe has something to do with it.

Your suggestions please,

Thanks

Gibbo

maybe install atitool and manually set it?

Seems a bit strange and a weird issue, maybe a dud card?

Sorry i cant be much more of any use.

Install a new BIOS?

EDIT - Whats the motherboard like btw? Always liked abit and there wasnt a abit motherbaord which i liked when i bought my P5W DH Deluxe?

Tried ATI Tool and it does change fan speed. Odd thing is though set it too 100% and things are dead quiet. Set it too 0% and its at full pelt....

Just as if maybe the fan connector on graphics card is on incorrect way round?

That devicemanager problem might be WDM drivers needed problem...

as for the fan problem i have never heard of that happning before :o

you work for OCUK dont ya ? only way to be sure its not a hardware problem other than a graphics problem is to take the card back to ocuk and get them to test it in one of there test systems or your system...

sounds like it to me, swich the wires on the connector block to change the polarity,

Hi there

Checked it, definetely on correct way round. Tried both PCI-E connectors from the PSU, no change. :(

This thing is damn loud at full fan speed......

The unknown device is occupying:-
I/O Range = 00E0 - 00EF
IRQ = 03

Any clues anybody?

Gibbo that unknown device could be the ACPI utility that is used by some ASUS Boards stick in the mobo cd and set it to search the cd and see if that sorts it, on a fresh install i always get it at first it puzzled me until one day i stuck the ASUS cd and it installed this ACPI driver

i meant remove the black and red wired pins from the connector housing that plugs from the fan to the PCB and switch them over, probably just a manufacturing error.

Hi there

Did not try overclocking too much....

But it seemed happy at 380MHz FSB with Memory at approx 950Mhz or whatever it was at 4-4-4-12 timings. CPU voltage was 1.45v, RAM 2.1v and FSB/MCH at 1.52v.

Sure its a 400+ FSB board with ease but my mate wants silence, cool running and reliability so just left it clocked at 3.5GHz for him. :)

only unknown device that i had turned out to be the rage theatre chip and the vivo stuff. had to download the ati vivo wdm drivers seperatley since they wern;t in the CCC package.

but I bet it was SO loud you could not hear yourself think :)

Stelly

Hi there

Yup just like a DELTA fan as its always at 100%, thats faster than these cards even spin upto underload. So yeah very loud.
