heya, iave done a search but came up empty..

my friend has just made a new comp, e6300, msi plat, 2gb, x1950 pro Ultimiate,

now, hes been making computers for god knows how long so its not noobie error. however heres the problem, so here he is new install of windows, yada yada gets through all that. all drivers installed, now as soon as he installs his video drivers, all hell breaks lose, when he boots back after the install of tehm, his moniter turns off (black screen). and the only way to get back into windows is to go to safemode, and delete them.

hes currently working in vga mode :/.. now his monitor is a rather oldish 10year old CRT, apparently he was searching to find the problem, and its newer drivers requier moniters to show what they can do, now 10 years ago monitors didnt do this.

apparently, he read that ati drivers make the moniter go into 200 hz which is offusly too high.

anyone had this problem before? and ne way to fix it that you no?

btw, he hasnt overclocked or ne thing...

(sorry for the longish post)

Borrow a monitor, set it up with low refresh rate and screen resolution and then use his setup!?!?!?!

question is though, when he restarted with his new monitor, would windows not recognise it as a new monitor and then redo the same problem?

however, that's the best plan I think of at the moment...
