I already own an x1950 pro, but I've noticed in games of late it is struggling somewhat. I don't think the little chap can quite keep up with all the effects these "next gen" games are throwing at it.

Do you think 2 x1950 pros in crossfire is a good solution? It's a fairly cheap one, but I've been reading about and apparently the boost in performance is quite significant.

Depends on the resolution you're going to be running at tbh. Personally I think I'd just sell it and buy a Radeon 4850, avoids CrossFire hassles such as noise, heat, driver problems.

Both options are considerably more expensive than the one I'm proposing.

It's probably worth noting that I'm not looking for amazing graphics performance, but whether the £25 or so I'd be spending on another card would be worth it.

:)

I run 2 x 1950's in my Quad set up what do you want to know ?
Will 2 be better than one, Yes of course, Will it be two times better, No it won't. Is it easy to set up & run reliably, Yes it is, Is it noisey, No it isn't but then define noisey, I have always clocked & run my systems hard & wear headphones to game so I may not be the best person to answer that.
What are your slots like ? Have you 2 x 16 slots or not ? What res/monitor dop you run ? What games do you play or want to play ?

Worth noting I have just bid on a BFG 9800x2 after running my crossfire set up Flawlessy for about 6 months, May be more, My head memory is shocking.

In that case i'd just sell the 1950 and get a 2nd hand 3870 or 8800 of some form.

Much better plus after selling the 1950 (£30-£35 or so) you'd only have to fork out £20 to £30 on top which is most probably cheaper than adding another 1950. Plus you don't have to worry about crossfire messing up or not performing that well.

Good suggestion. Worth thinking about.

:)

Yep, as someone who went 1950pro to 1950pro Crossfire to 3870 to 3870X2 to 4850, i wouldn't waste time with Crossfiring old cards. Get a 8800GT or 3870 if money's tight, else a 4830 or 4850.
