I currently have in my machine -
OcUK ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express)

But when installing a new card recently I (very stupidly) managed to catch a cable in the fan :eek:.
Not realising this I started the machine up and managed to overheat the graphics card. So now the fan is melted about 1cm away from the card.
However it still works okay.

I was wondering if it is possible to buy a replacement fan for this card anywhere?

And that would simply replace my old heatsink/fan?

How hard are they to install? Apparently I would need a Voltage Regulator Heat Spreader Module as well.
This seems like it might be quite tricky to install and would probably cost me about £20 in total.

For that price it would probably be worth just buying a 8800gt at £75.

£20 is a lot less than 75, its not that awkward to fit graphics card coolers just undo all the screws from your old cooler, clean of any stock paste then follow the instructions for your new cooler.

Its up to you on the whole new GPU thing.

It really depends on the rest of your PC specs (including monitor size) and if you feel like spending the extra 55 pounds.

An after market cooler is sometimes a lot better than stock, and will usually allow more room for overclocking... but an 8800 GT will obviously still beat it.

newer editions of the arctic cooling coolers suitable for x1950 pros usually come with all the parts included or Arctic cooling have a online shop for cheap spares.

they are excellent coolers and cheap.

Chances are the fan on you old cooler could be replaced, but you need a donor, most graphics cards have frameless mounts which are hard to get as generic parts.

Well my spec currently is
E4300 running 2.7ghz
2GB Ballistix ram
2x 19" CRT monitors.
etc...

Its not a top notch spec so not sure if it is worth upgrading or not.
I am looking at getting a new monitor or two soon as well which would probably be 22" LCD widescreen's at 1650x1050.

If I got an Accelero x2 then I wouldn't need to get a frameless mount would I? That would just be for replacing the old cooler with one the same.

None of the places that sell the Accelero x2 seem to include the Voltage Regulator Heat Spreader Module. Or at least they don't mention they do and I can't find anywhere in the uk to buy a RHSM on it's own.
