x1950 Pro Help!

Ive recently bought a Sapphire ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (AGP) and a new corsair hx 520w power supply as my old one would not have stood a chance. I got agp because my motherboard is quite old and didnt have the cash to go all out.

The problem im having is I've put the graphics card into the AGP slot booted it and nothings happend. the lights on the mobo are on and the grapphics card and cpu fan are going but nothing else, no sound of the hard drive booting up or any other device. Could someone plz help me out I would be very greatful, thanx. :(
 
did you plug the extra power connectors into the graphics card ?

if possible can you try powering the hard drive from a seperate cable to what the gfx is connected

oh and as the psu is modular make sure all the cables are in tight and that if there was an extra power conenctor on your motherboard that you have connected it
 
The PC starts fine with my old graphics card in (which im using now).

I've tried powering it from the same lead as the h/d and also on a seperate one, could it be possible there is a conflict with my motherboard? Its an Abit-VA-10
 
as your new pc works with new psu and old gfx, has to be something gfx related only thing i can think is going into the bios and looking at the agp settings your old card may have been 4x agp were this would be a 8xagp dont know if its something you normally have to change your self but worth a look.

I cant get to the bios with the new gfx card installed, the PC wont post. But ill have a look at the settings, thanks for your help :)
 
Make sure the card is physically installed correctly, if its leaning a bit to the side or not pushed down enough you will get a no-boot situation.
 
Still not posting :( , I've made sure it was seated correctly several times, swapped the molex connectors round so each one is running straight from the psu but still no luck, anyone got any ideas? thanx.
 
Have you tried a different Molex connector?

If you have another PC, use the PSU to power just the gfx card or the mainboard and test it out :)

I had a similar issue the other day, however, mind would POST.

The problem was for me was that the card wasn't outputting any images from the second DVI port, which to me was strange (even during POST in the BIOS).

Took it down for an RMA yesterday, hoping to receive confirmation that it is borked tomorrow. The card was only 2 weeks old too and had been working fine up until the other day.

I tried it in another motherboard and still didn't output any images out of the secondary DVI port. I'm using the same PSU as the OP too.
