Hi,

I got a HIS x1950 pro card from OCUK today to replace my 7600Gs but the performance seems to be the same, it should waste the 7600 but it doesnt. I've tried a clean install with the latest drivers, the card is in the top 16x slot on my mobo, any ideas?

I've got a DFI Lanparty DLI-D,
x2 3800
4 x OCZ plat 512Mb
ATI HIS x1950 pro
4 x SATA HDD

the whole system is at default speed :(

just tried BF2 at 1600x1200 everything on max and it gets between 70-100 fps... I think thats pretty good, but I never ran the 7600 at this res so I cant compare it, can anyone else?

I'm under the impression that your X2 3800 at it's stock 2.0GHz is holding the X1950 Pro back (seeing that you're now getting somewhat high fps in higher resolutions yet seeing barely any difference in lower resolutions?). Ever considered overclocking that cpu?

Mul

yep, havent overclocked it for ages as I didnt need to, I have just upped it to 2.4ghz and the scores are going up as you would expect, I'm going to put it in my mates core duo today and see what that does it it.... mind need a new system soon.... :D

dont forget sum games rely more on the cpu than others so in them games a better gfx card wont give full benefits if the cpu is not up to scratch. that small overclock shold help you i get about 6000 3dmark6 with an x1950pro and my e67oo duo at 3.3

100% guaranteed CPU bottleneck with a stock 3800X2. However don't expect a huge increase even with some Conroe power behind it, 5000ish is the norm in 06 with the card at stock clocks.

I put into a e6400 system today and it was better, by increasing the CPU to 3.2ghz 06 gave 5900 points... looks like I need to justify a core duo :)

I have read thread here and they are over rating the X1950 pro.
They say is like better than a 7900 because has more shaders, but this are unified..
I look the real tech specs, and is disappointing just average.

OMG, Dah I posted the same page.
7900 GS and 1950pro are the same.
Nvidia run better on nvidia games, like quake 4, and Ati on their games too.
Also both cards are handicapped, :D
lol, I'll not argue for 10 fps :o

Hardly handicapped when they both make mincemeat of any current game if you run at resolutions of 1280x1024.
