Hey. I have a G3250 small form factor case lying around that I want to fill up for uni.

It currently has a 460w Akasa Paxpower PSU and a Asrock core 2 duo mobo, so I would just need to add cheap core2 and some ram.

On to the x1950: I was considering adding this, but a lot of people are suggesting that you need atleast 22amps on the 12v Rail.
According to http://www.akasa.co.uk/akasa_english/spec_page/psu/spec_ak_p460fg_bkv4.htm

it says that my PSU has only 12v1@14 amps and 12v2@15 amps.

Im guessing a x1950 pro (the one on offer atm) will havew no chance of running :) ?

Regards.

akasa psu you got is more than enough for a x1950pro, they recommend 22a on 12v rail, but you have 2 rails for 12v which will give you more than 22a combined.

Cool. Erm, just so i understand. I thought 2 rails meant I had 2 cables with connectors.

Unless Im misunderstanding what a RAIL is :P

most 2 rail psu;s are single rail anyway, all it means is that a bunch of the 12v cables connect at 1 point inside the psu and another bunch of 12v cables connect at a different 12v point inside the psu, like having 2 seperate circuits that provide 12v power and have over current protection on them.

but as seen on hardocp and jonnyguru psu reviews even most high end psus usually just have a single 12v rail which is not bad at all.

your psu will be more than enough to handle the gfx card your looking at. nothing to worry at all about.;

1950 pro is 30a on the 12 v rail look on ati's site where on earth do people get these 22a's from.
450-Watt power supply or greater, 30 Amps on 12 volt rail recommended (assumes fully loaded system)
that's not to say it won't run but that is the official recommendation.
when i had one i had random reboots gaming and i am corsair 520hx

Dunno if this is relevant, but my brother runs an E2140 @ 2.9GHz and an 8800GTS on an Antec 380W PSU, so your 460W PSU should in theory be fine.
