Hey everyone, just installed my new X1950 XT and ran Mark06 to see the differance between my 7800GT and this...here are the results

XFX GeForce 7800GT - 4666
Connect 3D X1950 XT - 6097

Do you think that everything is install correctly and is running at the right speeds? Thanks Everyone.

P.S - A little problem with the install. When I try to open Catalyst Control Centre I get an error message saying "CLI Application error - if you were in the middle of something it may be lost" or something like that. You can still run it underneath the error (adjust brightness, AA ect) but when u click close it just crashes the CCC. Any ways to solve it without too much hassle?

Well its deffonatly better, played BF2 64 player server, used to stutter pretty badly, now its seems to be running very smooth. Although I dont know how to adjust the brightness for games, it only seems to be applying to the desktop. All my games (bf2) seem to be really dark.

running Cataylst 6.12's, bloody ones on the CD dint even work!

Are there any setting for brightness in BF2 itself? There tend to be brightness/colour/contrast settings in CCC so it might be worth spending a little time trying to get that to work so you can change them.

Its ok got the brightness sorted now. Only problem now is that when my PC restarts and gets to the windows logo and just as its about to click to the Welcome screen, my monitor clicks off, but the PC is still booting up, To get it back on I have to work my way to the Stand By button (Windows Key, Up, Up and Enter) then once its into Stand By mode press a button on my keyboard to basically wake it up and the monitor clicks back on. When my screen comes back on its on the Stand By screen. Really annoying my knowing its not setup right. Also the problem of the Error with the CCC is also ******* me off...

Yeah that looks about right, my X1900XTX used to get about 6500ish in 06.

Can anyone tell my why my PC on BF2 and BF2142 is really stuttery? Its like a long pause and the game sort of catches up with itself, I thoguht it was becuase of my gfx card (hense me buying a new one) but its still doing it. My mate has basically the same system as me running the games and setting the same and his runs smooth. The only differance is my gfx card is better! I can only think its because im using and IDE hard dirve, is it possible that its making my games stutter that bad?

40GB IDE - (20GB Windows - 20GB Apps)
160GB SATA2 (100GB Downloads - 60GB Games)

Update - Just uninstalled CCC and stuff...Still not booting with monitor on and now I have an Unknown Device...wtf, really disapointed over here.

do a dxdiag mate, someone may be able to see what the issue is from that.

Are the 6.12's the only x1950xt drivers out at the mo?

Are you saying that of 200gb total available hd space you've used the lot?

I'm pretty sure that windows needs an area of empty disk space to create a swap file. Without it you will be getting errors and slow downs. I'm sure someone with greater knowledge will either set me or you straight on this.

Not im saying would the fact i have IDE make my games slower noticably?

Don't think so. I have only got an EIDE and I can't say I've noticed a difference when playing on other peoples' SATA equiped PCs.

Holy ****, just ran the Direct3D test and the spinning boxes were going all mental, like wavey and deformed...whats that to do with?

I know that another poster (knives) here has been having problems with the drivers of his new Connect x1950xt. Might be worth searching for his name and seeing if he finds a solution.

Ye ive had a look at his posts , seems hes having the same trouble as me...Everything is working fine apart from the fact the monitor dosent work when booting (have to go into Stand By and then Wake Up) and now just this random Unknown Device...

I had that problem too!, about a year ago, It turned out to be a driver problem, It only occured when I set vertical Sync to off. I then set it to the default - Off, unless application specifies, this solved my problem! I dont know much about nVidia cards or forceWare drivers, think it is driver related, but I dunno what forceware drivers version (ie 74.94, etc) are the best! as I have always been with ATi. Just my two cents!

Yeah, I'm pretty much making a lot of noise at the moment about this particular graphics card ><

I don't have any graphical abnormalities though, but I have a hunch that the reason why the card is being so slow is that it isn't reverting to 3D clock speeds in games or other similair applications. I'm trying to figure out how to see them, and lock them.

If anyone could tell me how to make the 3D speeds constant (I don't care about power consumption or lifespan) then that would be sweet.

Sime: I know its not an instant solution but try contacting Connect3D, see if they can offer any support. They do apparently have drivers for the X1950XT on their website so you could try those, they are suppose to be reliable.

I'm definately goin for a pro :P
