X1950PRO AGP - PSU?

Hello guys.

I've just bought a X1950PRO AGP card and my PSU is only 400W... However on the graphics card box it says 450W PSU or greater... Will this be a problem?

My computer isn't exactly hungry :

Intel P4 3.00GHZ
2GB RAM
160GB HDD

yea it will be more than enough power, right at the bottom of that page your psu has these specs:

+12V1&+12V2 total output shall not exceed 348 Watts

I have the card installed now, I ran 3dmark03 and I got a score of 12.2K points... My 7600GT used to get 11.5K points.. Does this score sound decent enough?

Also I expected it to preform better, when I play WoW my frame rate varies from 10 - 50 in busy places.
 
fishy score that, it sounds like the exact sort of score a x1950pro would get running at its 2d clock speeds.
that card should be hitting close to 9k

Well, I'm formatting now to see if it fixes my problem.

When I run full screen games in windowed mode (such as wow), when I press the windows key on my keyboard to get the start menu up, WoW and the rest of my PC will just go really really choppy, however, if I click back onto WoW my pc will go back up to speed.

This is really annoying, if anyone knows how to fix it please let me know.

Also, can anyone reccomend a decent set of drivers to use? Because I'm only getting about 20-30FPS in wow when I thought my card would play WoW brilliantly!

Sounds about right m8 I have just bought one of these cards for my old AGP system

03 was 12546 now 14338
05 was 5982 now 6745
06 4097

You have a slightly slower CPU than mine.

thats odd, these x1950pros should be getting close to 9k in 3dm05, thats not a cpu limited test. the 3dm06 score is cpu dependant.
ill have to see when my x1950pro arrives, the [email protected] should score ok im guessing.
 
Score does sound a bit low as i have a 7800gs oc and it gets about that in 05 (everything at stock) and the ati is meant to be a lot faster.
 
right, just been on msn to the op and found out his cpu score in 3dm05 is 3000 and checking the orb others with same clock speed p4 as him get almost 4k.

then he revealed his cpu temps are hitting 57c idle.

and the op also said that all gfx card he has had in the pas have performed poor.

i rekon the p4 is thermal throttling back to a slower speed when load is placed since idle temps of 57c are damn high. what do you guys rekon?

edit: just an update the op's load temps go to 81.3c but cpu still does not throttle back baffled to whats causing his low performance.
