x1950pro is fan speed only controlled via software

HI all

Quick question....

I own a x1950pro and I dont have the Catalyst software installed, only the driver! taking that into account, how is the speed of the fan controlled in reference to the temperature? As it dosn't run at full speed on default.
 
install rivatuner or ATItool and set the fan speed there. Lots of people have had issues with the fan control on this card, myself included.
