Hi All

Current Spec:

875 P4C800
30 cap P4 Northwood 2.8 @ 3.5 (250 fsb)
2gb Mushkin PC4000 @ 3-4-4-8
Asus 6800GT

This serves its purpose, but I haven't treated it for a while!

Anyone running a similar setup with a 1950Pro 512mb? Any thoughts? Did you see much of an improvement?

As an exmaple, BF2142 has to be played on low settings to get acceptable FPS online...and I would like the draw distance etc to be better!

Thanks in advance

you'll certainly have no problems with that mobo, see my sig.... ;)

and although i don't play any online fps games, i'd imagine you'd be able to crankup the settings a fair bit. of course you'd better wait for some confirmation from someone who actually plays the game.... :p

i had an x800xt but that died so needed replacing. my main improvement so far is being able play call of duty 2 with all details maxed in directx 9 mode. my old card could only play in dx7 mode with medium/high details. :D btw i play @ 1440x900.

the only other games i've tried aren't gfx intensive and used to run flatout on my old card.... :o

i must try some more demanding games soon. :)

I have no idea how you have to run at a low settings on that current rig in BF2142. I'm running an A64 4200 X2 (game only uses 1 core though so equiv of a A64 3500), 2GB RAM, x850xt 256MB and BF2142 is on medium to high settings 1280x1024 with max view distance.

Something is probably wrong with your system rather than a lack of power. That 6800 is almost as fast as my graphics so thats not it. You have 2GB of RAM which is what BF2142 requires for higher settings. The only point that might be letting it down is the CPU although a 3.5Ghz P4 isn't exactly slow.

System becnhes around 22k on 01, haven't been in that game for a while so maybe take another look.

However I am sure it's the GPU - it's the Asus V9999 (cheapskate I know) so instead of normal GT spec it's a 350mhz core and only 128 700mhz DDR on it which is pretty lame...
