X1950PRO review - its FAST.

soo the 512mb cards were on here but now t hey not ?? is that cause you sold out of the stock you expecting ? of so when will they be back and also how much extra are t hey over a 256mb version anyone know ?

I know these cards are meant to be really overclockable but I just hate overclocking with ati 1k series, its sooo annoying and ends up being more stress then fun. Has any1 actually had a decent sustainable relatively easy overclock with their 1k cards?

You've gotta be crazy not to wait for the DX10 parts now.

Why? ATI DX10 parts are not out until january/march and I need a new pc asap if I was going to wait I may as well wait for quad core and then wait for blu-ray/ hd-dvd hybrid drives to come out.

What I am trying to say is that the speed at which PC componants are released will always mean that something new is just around the corner but realisticaly DX10 will not be needed for another 12-18 months at which point cheaper and better DX10 cards will be available I got sick of buying the newest fastest part when I got my 9800pro for £350

Exactly, where's all the uber DX10 games, erm nowhere, but what about Crysis etc... erm well they look identical to DX9 and play on XP, so why do i still need a £500+ card (rumoured G80 price), and a £200+ copy of Vista for a few more frames in DX9 if my GX2 etc... is gona cut through the games anyway in XP, and look the same as they do in DX10, erm well you don't. :p

yes you can , 965 is cross fire enabled now! it may be only 16 x 4 , but it makes no differance to performance

Erm no you can't, its physically impossible on the DS3, you wanna read the specs of it, specifically the bit that says 1x PCI-E 16x slot. :p

If you think you can get 2x cards in 1x slot then good luck, be a tight squeeze that. ;) :D

I thought you were going anyway mate, changed yer mind eh, nice one. :)

The DS3 has a x4 PCI-e video card slot too. That's what the second card runs through. Apparently. It'll certainly accomodate a second card, but I think it's designed for VIVO and TV control cards rather than proper graphics cards.

Its the DS4 & DQ6 that can do the Crossfire now, but the second slot only runs at 4x when its enabled, as they have the 2x PCI-E slots, the DS3 only has the 1x so Crossfire on it is impossible as said, DS3 has only got 1 x PCI Express X16 slot, 3 x PCI Express X1 slot, and 3 x PCI slots. :)

Hi there

We have both the HIS and GeCube 256MB versions. :)

GeCube HSF looks great! Whoa!

Also I giggled @ "OcUK or GeCube guarantee any level of overclock" ;)

I would buy the 7900GTO over these cards any day ...

- GeForce 7900 GTX Core running at 650MHz
- 512MB 1.1ns GDDR3 Extreme Memory running at 1320MHz
- 24 Pixel Pipelines
- Designed For Extreme HD Gaming – Delivering Ultra Realistic Gaming Experiences
- Dual link DVI support
- SLI ready – Delivering upto 2x the performance
- Shader Model 3.0 Support
- True High Dynamic Range Rendering Support – Based on Open EXR technology
- Two DVI to Analogue adapters supplied
- Video-In / Video-Out cable supplied
- S-Video cable supplied
- PCI-Express Power Adapter/Converter supplied

Why would anyone want to pay for Sub 7900GT speeds when you get close to 7900GTX speeds at the same cost?

ok so do we really think this card the gecube , can get close to x1950xtx speeds? it lacks a lot of the shaders the 1950xt has
or is the 7900gto still the best buy!?

It may get to the same CLOCK speeds, but if your talking frame rates, then no, I don't think it is.

Theres a good article on Anandtech that I've read (and linked to above) that demonstrates it to be on the same level as a X1900GT - unsurprising since its basically the same tech (12 pipes, 8 vertex shaders, 36 pixel shaders, 512/256 memory interface).
