The ATI core is quicker, and their cards can do 5 operations per cycle(64 x 5 = the 320 they claim), but their architecture has proven insufficient to take advantage of all that power. Therefore go for the 8800GTS, it's absolutely the most powerful of the two possibilites. I would maybe save some money and go for a 8800GT, it's almost as quick and quite a bit cheaper. I have had an 8800GT and currently have a 8800GTS and i would pick the 8800GT.

Now this is dependant on resolution to me if I were to choose. I'd make a simple rule of up to 1680x1050 then the GT. 1600x1200 to 1920x1200 then it would be the GTS.
