Hi all,

Just finalising my spec and am now deciding between

Connect3D ATI Radeon X1950 XT 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

and

HIS ATI Radeon X1950 XT-X ICEQ 3 SILENT Heatpipe 512MB GDDR4 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (H195XTX512DV-R)

What sort of difference will there be between these in the real world?? they would be on a DS3 with a clocked e6600 and 4gb 800mhz ram.

x1950XT, and will you need 4gb RAM? With RAM prices at the moment, I'd get the least you need! Does XP 32Bit even recognise 4gb RAM?

VISTA is supposed to work better with it though.

I should be ready to move to vista with that system, probably 64, i may not need it but i do a bit of photoshop and like to prepare for the future, im getting 2gb of it in a bundle so i could stick with that and add a little more later?

Yeah not much difference between 256mb and 512mb, only at resolutions above 16x12 the 512mb will benefit, and thats probably only by a few frames, also as said the x1950 XTX is totally worthless now as the new gen Dx10 8800 GTS is only about £40 more than it, however the x1950 XT 256mb is an absolute steal at the price it is, and well worth buying, not much slower than the full blown XTX either, both have the same core speeds, but the XTX has GDDR4 memory at 2000mhz, and the XT has GDDR3 memory at 1800mhz, so a very small overclock on the memory of the XT will give you a full blown XTX, albeit with half the ram, but as said thats nothing. :)
