Hi all, my first post on these forums have been viewing for a while. Thought this was the best place to ask this question.

I currently have a Ati radeon X1950XTX with an Asus A8R-MVP crossfire enabled motherboard. What are my options for a second graphics card to run in crossfire mode with the X1950XTX?

I'm looking to spend around £100-£200 on the card so could I say use a X1900 card?

If you could give me a list of cards that are compatible with the X1950XTX for crossfire mode and also your own personal suggestion then that would be great.

Thanks a lot

Just to clarify my X1950XTX is a "master card". So are you saying I can only run it in crossfire with another X1950XTX? That would be very pricey and also for some reason ocuk don't stock it anymore. Anyone know why this is?

Another question is about compatibility of some games with crossfire, is there any known issues in games such as World of Warcraft that I should be aware of? Haven't heard any but wondered if anyone

well when I bought the card from OCUK a few months back it stated it as a master card. Is there any way to tell? My card appears to have 2 sockets for monitor outputs. I have seen pictures of an X1950XTX with a monitor output and a funny looking port which i'd imagine is somethign to do with the crossfire wire.

EDIT: the whole reason i bought the card was because i thought i might want to get a second one a few months later i hope they did send me the master card!

I "think" it has 2 of the same port but will inspect when i get home from work. If this is the case am I right in thinking this is a slave card? Therefore I need to buy a x1950xtx master card?

If this is the case would you be able to kindly point me in the direction of a decently priced site (£200) for acquiring one as OCUK don't appear to stock them anymore.

will check PSU when i get home.

One last question. If I purchase a x1950XTX mastercard will it come with the cable required to link the 2 cards together or do i have to buy this seperately?

From looking around on the net, the mastercards are out there, but they carry a very hefty premium (that is if that's what you need, otherwise the normal X1950XTXs are around £100 cheaper).

If you really want Crossfire, i'd suggest getting it second hand or it's going to cost you an arm and a leg. Otherwise you could sell the X1950XTX, put the money to it, and you'd be in 8800GTX territory then.

Buit if you do, do it now, while they still command a semi-decent price. Should be able to get £125-150 for it IMO.

Thanks for the advice, will look into this option route if I fail to get a decent price for a x1950XTX master card.
