If you had an X1950XTX and were offered a 7900gt for free would you take it?

How do they compare?

Cheers,

G

Nope, natta, not a chance and no :).

X1950 has superior IQ, can do AA/HDR at the same time. Scales better for big resolutions and does HDTV very well. I think it's faster also. I think it's only the 7900GTX that keeps up FPS wise and the X1950 card is better than that IMO.

I'd take it and then sell it TBH.

The XTX will beat it in pretty much everything.

As Lightnix says it was only generally beaten by the GX2 - when you consider that card was 2x 7900GT's sandwiched it shows how good the XTX was. :)

R580 was amazing, not as efficient per transistor as G71 but it was the top performer by quite a margin.

In some ways R580 is better than R600, per clock i think anyway.

I used to have an X1950XTX, it was a beast of a card and bar the GX2, the fastest card of it's generation.

Ooooooooh :D. For free???. Erm, yeah I'd take it.

Someone posted in your thread with a decent motherboard that is about the same price as the Asrock you have. http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17880483

Is that doable?. You could sell the Asrock also to help get some money together as I know you've just bought this.

Sorry I misread and thought it was a swap :o.

Seconded, I've still got one, amazing card tbh. It played any directx9 game at max with aa and af for me at 1280x1024 (bar Crysis and Assassin's Creed).

It was faster than the 7900GTX in more games.

It was certainly the fastest "single" card of it's generation overall. :)

Straw picking TBH.

I'm not getting started on dead tech!;)

I benched both cards and the reults where samey to say the least!

Yeah sell it and keep the XTX.

I had a 7900GT Ko superclocked and it was clocked to 701/920 on stock voltage....was a really fast card actually...

However I did prefer the x1900 series as you could change voltage through software. Coolest feature ever.
