Tanner, seeing as you dont have enough posts to see the members market, I have a X1900XTX for sale. Email me if you're interested.

true concorde rules but i just dont know what to do? ive toyed wit allsorts of ideas but going xfire again would be the cheepest if i could get the right card for the right money, otherwise its gonna be a nice mother of a single card that will produce the good :), its the only thing that needs upgrading now, cause ive got a clocked wolfdale :) and 2gb ram so its the lagging component especially when crysis and the witcher come to it

Well exactly then.

Sell your mastercard (they get a few quid more than normal cards!) and then add the money you would have spent on a new X1900 on a Powercolor HD3870XT 512Mb :)

how much different would a 3870xt be over xfired cards such as my master card and a x1900xt?

2 x X1900XT's in CF will be about the same as a 3870, but you obviously wont have DX10.

Having just upgraded from a crossfire 2 x x1900xt system myself, I can confirm that a single HD3870XT seems to be about the same as my old crossfire setup. 3dmark06 scores are very close. Also means you can add on a 2nd 3870 at a later date (or straight away in my case) for a nice boost. :D

but lets be honest dx10 is in very early stages still in games, and if adding another card is cheeper and will get me the same results then thats is what i will do but have being looking @ the 3870xt

I think the 3870 is faster, even if only just than two X1900s in CF.

Even if it was a dead heat the lesser power usage and noise of the HD 3870 would win.

Sell the master card and get a new gen one.. a 8800GT 512Mb might be a better idea if your not locked to ATi...

Have to stick My Oar in here ;)

2 X1950XTX in Cross fire was a match for an 8800GTX in supported games
So no single HD3870 is close to that..;)

The rest is totally correct they do run Hot and noisey and Use a bit more power than the new generation

My advice would be a pair of 512MB 3850's in crossfire or a 8800GT/GTS

why a pair of 3850s? guys am not locked to ati by any means , and i dont care about heat or power usuage, its all watercooled here :)

I just keep seeing dx10 cards that seem to be slower than the setup i want in dx9 games obviously as there arent loads of dx10 avalible apart from crysis but thats another price range altogether.

hmm also another issue has started occuring if i want trouble free gaming to get rid of the shakes in games , i have to unisnstall the card in control pannel delete the driver using driver cleaner pro and then let vista decide to reinstall it then it works fine cant think why i have to do this every time i reboot? any ideas anyone?

also ive tried downloading the drivers from atis site and catalyst control panel just errors every time saying CC is not responding?

What you guys recon to that?

Cheers for help in advance.

Later CCC do have issues installing/reinstalling in XP..Sometimes an over install works fine but Vista uses an instal manager and seems to me Less problematical

If messed up only solution is uninstall all ATI, reboot Safemode and Drive cleaner then a regcleaner and reboot and then try...but it can take a couple of times

Also If You are on the older GFX cards I think I would not be running these later drivers which will be more suited to the newer cards
