What is the difference between these 2, how come some X2 3800 s939 are manchester cores (like mine) and some are toledo??

Hi,

E4 = Manchester core (smaller die), 2 x 512KB L2 cache
E6 = Toledo core (larger die), 2 x 1MB L2 cache (only 512KB of that cache enabled)

Quote: "For all intents and purposes, these CPUs are the same as you cannot easily re-enable that extra 512KB of cache. The difference in overclockability is more a function of how lucky you are in getting a quality core than which stepping you get. The difference in die size has a minimal effect on temperatures or power draw. Basically, it doesn't matter which stepping you get." http://www.fatwallet.com/t/18/705045

Thats putting it simply lol.

Same difference rally.

Toledo was the first out basicly they were higher graded chips with half the cache disabled then they designed it from the ground up with 2x512 manchester core

I have heard the toledo might be a slightly better clocker but as said depends on the stepping and your donald duck
