X2 3800+ or 4200+

Your using 2t timings tho yeah?

--

Try upping ddr ram volts up one notch see if that helps. Helped me to get stable at 2600mhz.

Yer crucial suck on timings abit they have to run it on 2t to hit ddr500. :(
Also the standard volts for my sticks are 2.8 so i would push it up.

Mine are running 1T. Maybe that was the problem. I am loath to turn up DDR volts anymore as these sticks are notorious for overheating and then failing.

Actually with Crucial's lifetime warranty maybe thats what I should do LOL !

I'll have a go at REALLY slack timings at 2400 and see if that helps. If not I'll have to overclock the RAM a little and go for lower HTT.

If your ram is holding you up lower the divider, but you said you had a problem with. :( I have the same on my mobo, i cant get the ram to run on a 266 mem divider when im reaching 2.9ghz.

x2 4200

Just got mine 4200 from ocuk ands its @ 3gh
nice overclock me thinks temps around 28-29 idle and in the high 30s stressed
volts @1.4

Ive just got my Zalman CPNS 9500. On full load with 2.9ghz its 50C on low and idle is 34C. Much better than my 65C load. :D

Sounds like a heat issue. Try cleaning CPU, reapplying minute amount of thermal paste and reseatting heatsink.

Sounds like volts issue. Dont let bios be on auto. Manualy set it to the right volts for vcore. 1.375 or 1.4v in bios which would mean 1.35 or 1.375 in reality since that mb undervolts.

With the new cooler i got i tried to hit 3ghz but it wont work with anything i do.
Im gona keep it at 2.9ghz, with the 2 fast sticks a 1t timiing but i need to find a way of getting bf2 to work with it.

New cooler help with temps much? Mine freezer 64pro idles at 38-40 at 2.6ghz and 58 max load (orthos) Just woundering your temps. Edit nvm saw ** post above.

Whats the exact problem with bf2 not working?

In bf2 i load up the map, and after 20secs of walking around the game either freezes and i have to reset, or it crashes to desktop. I have no idea why it does this. Its the only game to do this.

I had stalker open the 1st two times, thot I would see if the dual core had improved it and it just switched straight off. Yesterday It switched off while doing nothing. And supcom froze up last night.

:(

I would do what Skeeter said and change the voltage to 1.35-1.4 it should solve the problem.

Right.

Had another go, this time slackening the RAM timings and setting it to CAS 3-3-3-8 2T.

Bumped up the HTT to 2400. Orthos stable for a good while. 3DMark 05 around 10995.

Went straight for 2600Mhz and left the RAM at the slack timings at the 333 divider so the RAM runs at 217Mhz. 11865 3D05 with Twin 7800GT running at 480/1060. Result !!

Volts at 1.425v

This chip has more in it I'm sure. I'll go for a little higher tomorrow or Thursday and when I hit the max I'll post pics ! :D Going for 12000 3D05 !
