Sorry guys i've been out the "loop" for awhile now did a search but couldn't really find the info I was looking for

I'm wanting to build a new dual core system for a 3Dmodeling/CAD workstation but dont wanna spend mega bucks

I cant decide which way to go AMD dual core or Intell dual core as both bottom of the line chips are the same price :)

Pref like crossfire chipset aswell on my mobo

Any help would be most appriecated

cheers Zaf,

The 3800 is on a par with the 930 if not a bit better, generally faster, but sometimes slower so it would depend on exactly what you were using it on. So given that I would say go with the 3800 over the 920, especially if they're a similar price.

Going to have to agree. Crossfire AMD platforms are also better in my view as well as much better for gaming.

Look at this comparisson, shows how much smarter the AMD is compared to the Intel.

http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/ProductInformation/0,,30_118_9485_13041^13042,00.html

Plus the intel may have 4mb L2 cache (total) but it only has 56kb L1 cache whereas the AMD has 1mb L2 cache & 256kb L1.

LOL
...and if you go to the NVidia website it will tell you how much better their graphics card is over anything else out there.
Although the funny thing is, over at www.atitech.com they say that the ATI solutions are best.

Sorry, you cannot sight the amd.com website as any kind of proof that one CPU is any better than any other.

But you can cite the fact that it just is better - needs no cheesy company's press releases...

LOL yourself, ya monkey! It might be AMD's own website but it states technical facts not benchmarks!

Look at the facts JACK!

Bwahaha I can't believe you are using that as reference. <sigh>

What is wrong with you people. I posted this link because it just outlines the arcitecture differences between the two chips. It doesn't show benchmarks or have a long winded description of why AMD is better it just simply states facts!

Try not to be so stupid GOAT & Stoofa

cheers for the help guys :)

Will be getting the X2 3800+

Looks like i'm going with a cheap ASRock board tho as its the only one I can find that still supports AGP

I'd get something like the MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum or Epox 9NDA3 Ultra for AGP. Even if you absolutely cannot find them new, there are used examples around.
