X2 3800 or SD 4000?

depends upon whether you play games, or not. I think the x2 will probably feel better around windows (after patches), not sure about in game performance, as i have only experienced single core, but not too many games tke advantage of the second core.

For playing games the 4000+ will be best and for encoding videos the X2 will be best, for general everyday use there won't be much difference between the two although as dante6491 said the X2 will run smoother in windows.

4000 for games. X2 3800 for everything else. Although some games take advantage of dual core so the difference in those won't be huge.

If it were me I'd get the X2 3800 and overclock it until it squeeled. Oh, in fact that's what I did do (albeit with an Opty) :D

If you got the money I would go for the X2 3800 as it would run better in windows, allowing other programs to run in the back ground without slowing down.
