x2 3800+ two temps?

Iv been told that 50*c is a good mark to not go above. I run SmartFan to check my temps, n it has two temps for my CPU, temp1 is always higher than temp 2 by about 6-7*c hotter under load and 4*c idle.

Is this normal? Is this a temp for each core?

you should have 3 temps from that board

CPU
PWMic
Chipset

Other temps that you see might be hard drives.

Use SmartGuardian it comes on the boards driver CD.

Great :D how did i miss that when installing that my drivers :S

Next question what should my temps be?

Just now (idle):

CPU: 26*C
PWMIC: 36*C
CHIPSET: 39*C

Normal (just basic windows stuff):

CPU: 35*C
PWMIC: 44*C
CHIPSET: 39*C

Ill run a few load tests to find out the high temps. But just want to make sure i dont go too high or need more cooling.

Those temps look very good. I have a OCed 3800+ running at 29/30C idle and 39/40C fully loaded.

Download Prime95 and SuperPi and run a few windows of those to get the load temps - they tell you most about the cooling.

get worried if they go over 60 degrees, in theory they can handle about 90 at most, but i don't know if high temps will reduce the lifespan.

Reckon the chipset will be okay if it's under 50 degrees
