Ok im sure my sandiego was around 46c in the bios at 2.6 I think I need a better cooler, or is 51c ok?.

with the heat at the min id say its pretty much fine until you start to kreep in to the 60's

mine hits around the 50 mark in BF2 and i'm running at 2.6 too, same processor.
it must just be the weather cos normally i'm not much above 40.

If it's in the BIOS that'll be near idle temps, which are not good. What temps do you get when gaming?

Jokester

Edit: Personally I would reseat the HS.

Tried a reseat, no luck backed off to 2.4 and its showing 54c idle i wont be playing any games untill i replace this cooler lol i need a heatpipe I think

Ok problem solved it was 59c so I went out and bought a evo120 from a local store, not my first choice but i needed to test now, threw it in and the temp was 47c, still high i thought for idle temp, then i realised folding@home was running, so I turned it off and the temp dropped to 42c so Im sure i needed this cooler to keep it under 50c at load. Might try some giel paste I have its copper colour, has copper and silver in it, i used a white stuff supplied with the evo looks like standard silicone

My x2 3800 is at 62 under load? is this far to hot?, wouldnt mind I am using a scyth ninja on it which is seated perfectly, the ninja is doing its job well as its roasting to touch, chip is over clocked to 2500 at 1.4V. Ran S&M and it passed all the tests even at this temperature.

EDIT: Seems a bit cooler today, temp is at 53 while encoding a divx to dvd using CCE

Core Temp.exe and homonitor both show the same temps so I guess my board is accurate, my 3700 @ 2600 ran at 52 max using the same setup.

EDIT: Here is a pic while encoding with CCE, CPU usage is about 80% on both cores.
