Am I right in saying temp should be around 48-71 under 100% load. 71 being max.
I've heard it should be easy to reach 2.6 at 240 x11 at 1.45v. Does that sound like a sensible place to start?
Also whats a good stressing app? is super pi still a good app to use?
As well as seeing perfomance change.
From memory I had mine running at 3Ghz at 1.55v under water so 2.6 at 1.45v sounds about right but may need less.
I was really pushing my chip as far as it would go at that speed.
I never used the bios to find my max overclock, I used a program called something like "A64 ******" which allowed you to overclock in windows on the fly and change memory settings, voltages and fsb.
It even had a built in stress program and automatic find max overclock. Of course I would then set it in bios and tweak a few other things and run superpi and prime95. I could always do better than the built in program but it was a good start.
With 4200+x2 superpi seems to very quickly through up errors and is a good way of doing a very quick stability test and performance gain especially when you start mucky about with memory speed and timings once you find your max cpu overclock.
And I think my max temp was low 60s under load but like I said that was water.
Amd 4200+ x 2 love low latencies and 200 at 2-2-2-5 may be quicker than 240 at 3-3-3-8. Trial and error really but you do the memory last anyway.
Main key is dropping HTT to either 4x or 3x as once you go past 200 fsb, most mobo don't like more than 1000 on the HTT so 4x 240 would be just under and 3x very safe and maybe best just to leave that out of the equation.
I got mine to 11 x 278 = 3.058Ghz with memory on ratio giving 222Mhz but my corsair could still do that at 2-2-2-5. I think.

Just noticed yours is a manchester core and mine was a toledo core. From memory Toledo cores clocked better.
And yes pwm/vrm does get hot but it was the cpu which limited my overclock on water.
You may want to check your other temps out but if they are fine, better cooling is the only way you will get more from that chip.

I've always used Toldeo dual-cores but picked up an old X2 3800+ from MM a month or two ago and it clocks good, same 2700MHz max as the Toldeo but uses a little less vCore.
BIOS defaults to 1.35vCore on auto with any Toldeo I've used but the same BIOS defaults to 1.325vCore with this Manchester.

So, the Toledo's are 'better'?
yes they are 
they clocked slightly better, hence why i had one when they first come out Mine hit the wall about 2.6ghz x4400 this is on air. This wasnt stable for great lengths of time. It now sits at 2.4ghz not sure about the timings, as it was ages ago i played with it.

So, what freq would a 4800+ Toledo be at as standard? 2.6GHz??

Ahhh my exact CPU and toledo core here too running on the a8n-sli mobo.
I have mine clocked at 2.8Ghz (255 X 11 @ 1.5V). I set my memory in BIOS to 333Mhz, which means with the higher FSB my ram is running at normal PC3200 speeds, and its even on its 2-3-2-5 timings!
2.8Ghz is the highest I have tried this, been running it for 2 months now, and I can guarantee its fully stress tested and I haven't had a crash in that time and I am an extensive gamer. Not on that computer at the moment, but the temps are fine too, using an arctic cooling fan cant remember the exact name...I have even Qfan enabled! I am sure I could get higher, but my motherboard struggles running the ram at higher than normal frequencies since I have 4 sticks, so I'd need to take a few hours to sort the ram and CPU out.
EDIT: Forgot to answer question. I believe you need to keep this CPU under 70 degrees on load.
