Can't seem to get a stable overclock at 2.6ghz.Anyone with any ideas.

ive tried loads of bios settings but they all give illegal sumout errors in orthos or crash in 3dmark06..

Anyone got any good settings i could try

spec:
ga k8n sli pro
1gb geil ram 400mhz
8800gtx

no expert but have you tried playing with the ram settings as it could be the ram not the cpu thats the issue.

my opty 175 (basically the same really) was quite stable at 2666mhz (on a matx board) with stock volts but the ram is set at 2t due to the 4 sticks being installed.

I don't really understand ram timings and latencys's. Ive always assumed that if the ram divider is set so the memory runs at its normal speed the memory wont make any difference. Will running a higher fsb through them make them unstable even if they are at 400mhz speeds due to the divider?

I had one for 5 months or so never got beyond 2.6 either, but I wasn't prepared to do anything suicidal like high vcore and opted out on loosening the timings 'cause I prefer running 1:1

But if i have a ram divider running at its normal speed (even though the fsb is raised) will loosening timings still aid stability?

I was running 10x260 fsb with Ocz pc4000 platinum 1T 1:1 your ram maybe the limiting factor in your system if you loosen the ram timing it may allow you to push the fsb or leave the system more stable but this is where I had the problem in my system the fsb gain was never enough to warrant the looser timings.
