Would I see much of a difference?

My motherboard doesn't support the 6400+ and doesn't have overclocking facilities so the 5000+ black edition can't be considered. Don't particularly want to buy a new motherboard either, I'll put that off until I get a quad core or whatever is out at the time I decide to do another major upgrade.

Current spec:

Athlon 64 X2 4600+ Dual Core + Arctic Cooling Freezer-64-LP
4GB (2x 2GB) OCZ PC2 6400 Dual CH Gold Edition XTC
MSI K9AGM2-L mATX / eCute mATX Cube Case /Scythe Kama-Meter / Philips DVD RW
Hitachi 160GB SATA II 8MB cache
Palit 8800GT 512MB
Realtek® ALC888 HD Audio + Altec Lansing VS4121
Belinea 22" Widescreen
Vista Home Premium 64bit

I'm hoping it will let me use a few more features in Crysis but I may be totally wrong?

At the moment I run it in medium settings with 8x AA at 1024x768.

But then it's added cost. Looking at around £80 ~ £90 for a 6000+ which would give the system a bit more of a life span before having to upgrade the board.

This board doesn't support Phenoms so it would mean a new board. Considering I only purchased this board last year it's a bit crap :(

Reckon you're right, I'd be better of waiting. I could get a decent board and an AMD Phenom Quad Core 9850 2.50GHz Black Edition for £227 at the moment.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to save a few pennies and go for an intel quad core instead.
