x2 555 - Core Unlock Enabled problem

I'm trying to unlock a Phenom II X2 555, motherboard GA-870A-UD3 but when I set the CPU Unlock to Enabled the system reboots following the Loading Operating system.... message.

I've upped the CPU Voltage and CPU NB VID so I was assuming I've been unlucky. However when I set Core Control to Manual and disable cores 1, 2 and 3 leaving only core 0 enabled (I can't change core 0). It still won't load windows.

Is that normal or have I got something completely wrong?

can you run it as a dual-core in manual mode(0,1/0,2/0,3)?
also try as a tri-core as my 555 core 3 is dead so although i can post into windows, core 3 fails on testing. it was locked to a dual core for a reason, maybe due to 1 or 2 unstable cores, or could be 1 or 2 completely dead cores.

I had a quick go at switching between the cores with no luck last night but the strange thing to me is that I can't boot as a single core.

has it been overclocked at all, it is newley fitted, whats the rest of your system, were any other changes made, does it work fine without being unlocked, if so have you done any stability testing on it. might just be a faulty chip.

whats your vcore.
I got to pump just one notch to mine to get it stable at 3.5Ghz but then mine got a high vid.

have you run prime95 on it? i can get mine to boot a run fine as a 3.9GHz quad, but as soon as i start prime95, core 3 workers fail and stop.
with unlocking its all about luck, some people can unlock to 4GHz quad, others tri, and then some cant get either of the locked cores to work. mine wont hit 4GHz even as a dual core, 3.9GHz is its max, but that gets mega hot after hours of gaming and glitches appear.

My 555 didnt unlock but i could clock it and prime for 8 hours at 4.5Ghz under a Fenrir which is great for a chip like that.

I miss it :( why cant i clock like that on my C3 965, damn you amd.

Its prime stable at 3.5 but I have not clock it higher.
Looks like we got the same board also using an Asrock 890fx deluxe 3 here.

yeh, nice board for the money. you must have been one of the lucky ones, i can only manage tri-core with mine, but still, a £70 cpu doing 3.9GHz with 3 cores aint bad :)
dd you do anything other than whack the multi up? and what does the bios say your vcore is?

I've upped CPU Voltage in steps to 1.4V but no luck and that goes for a single core.

One thing I have noticed is that although prime stresses core 0 and 1. core 1 does not show up in core temp

that is odd, although i cant remember if core temp shows up all cores or a general temp, i thought it was individual, but now im not sure :(
how is the cpu showing up in windows is it still a 555 or a B55?

I think it will depend on the cpu, my e2180 displays two cores in core temp

RE: the original post, I think the cpu won't unlock. I'm building another pc with a 555 and a M4A88T-M mobo and that unlocks perfectly. As the other pc requires more power I've switched the cpu's so the b55 is now in the 870A-UD3 mobo. One thing i have noticed is that the 870A-UD3 has set the default voltage to 1.4.
Not sure if this happened with the M4A88T-M, would anyone be able to confirm?
