I have sold my c2d rig as i wasn't really using it apart from basic pc use, and got a s939 setup with the deal, it had a 3700sd/mobo, 3 gig ram, now i have put a x2 3800 in and i am more than happy with its performance but i noticed on the temps side, once core is idling around 33c and the other around 40c, now i thought maybe the zalaman wasn't sitting properly so re did it but its the same thing a good 7c difference between the cores is this ok.

7 degrees diff is a tad too much mine is about 2 degress diff, tho its normal for it to be about 4-5 degrees diff. Could be your cpu is concave (not totally flat) or heatsink could be or both. Also make sure the paste is covering both cores.

Ive had it on and off a few times and latest bios updates etc but its the same sort of margin 7c.

Could be that one core doesn't have as good contact with the IHS as the other.

Unfortunately there's not much you can do about that, apart from remove the IHS and cool the CPU without it.
