I'm thinking of purchasing one of the two chips above. I'm also interested in overclocking (first time overclocking a processor) and these two chips caught my eye because apparently they're very good and very simple for it.

Apparently you can oc the 5000+ in about 5 minutes using appropriate software to set a 15x multiplier and get 3.0ghz out of it with only air cooling? If you then want to go further you need to change the cpu voltage which allows you to up the clock speed to approx 3.2ghz..

So being a bit of a noob I have a few questions about overclocking and cooling...

1) What program do you use to a) set the multiplier? b) change the core voltage? I'm guessing changing the core voltage has to be done through BIOS but the multiplier can be changed through my OS?

2) I assume this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-006-SY along with some arctic silver paste will be appropriate cooling?

3) I already own some decent memory: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-058-GL&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat= so I'm guessing I'll be able to get better timings out of it than my current setup allows?

Please excuse my ignorance and thanks for the help. o7
