AMD HAS riled world+dog by back the date on the 3870X2 launch.

NDA’d for today, the twin engine graphics card was supposed to shock and awe consumers around the world as hardware sites were to publish their benchies on the beast.

Sources claim AMD delayed the release by a week so the 3870X2, 3650 and 3450 will all be launched together on the 28th in one big benchmarkfest.

How exactly is it delayed? In the first place it was nothing but rumour that said it would be out on the 23rd. The 28th has always been the date that most people thought was accurate. This is just the inq covering their bases in case they got it wrong, like everything else they fire out multiple versions of each story just so they can claim theyre right in the longrun. For example they claimed it was the 28th, then the 24th now in this new story theyre claiming the nda was up today. Give them a few hours and they'll have every day from now to next week covered.

Oh noes, a few extra days for what looks like better driver support.

Much better than the 8800gts/x which arrived with a huge number of software problems.

really cant see why people are saying its a driver problem? it is the fastest card out there for most games , and will prob be cheaper than a 8800 ultra not bad for new tech

The ultra is only that price because it's the fastest. Will be interesting to see what price it drops to now its been (90%) beat

Because 2 3780 in crossfire are faster & cards from NV & ATI have driver problems at launch.

Pointing out the driver thing like the inq are correct in why they say its delayed.

I never said they were gospel, I merely quoted a source to the reason of the claimed delays.

If they are wrong about this, post another source proving this please.

Nobodys saying theyre right or wrong, just that the inq like to fire out variations of storys to cover possibilites to make it look like theyre informed. Theyve now spouted 3 seperate release dates for this card, today, tomorrow and next monday. And now theyve brought out this "driver" bs to try and make their stories have some weight to them.

Far as im aware it originally came from the inq, who as usual are now back peddling and firing out other dates. Don't be suprised if they have different stories covering from now to the end of the month.

Good to hear as it didn't look all that in those reviews, hopefully will impove with its new drivers.
