dont ask me how becasue i dont know, but ive managed to convince the wife that a 4870x2 is needed in our household.
i have a couple of questions before i buy
by the looks of things im going to have to change my psu from 600 to either 700 / 750watt.
ive been looking at the ocz ModXStream 700w this has the pci e connectors needed for the job..this will power the card wont it ?
secondly. size comparison compared to the nvidia 200 range how does this compare. my 260 fitted in my case with 2-3cms spare.
thanks

I'm running mine on a 750w Silverstone which has 60amps on the 12v rail.

From the Sapphire website it states..

''650 Watt or greater power supply with one 2x3-pin PCIeR power connector and one 2x4-pin PCIeR power connector is required (1K Watt with two 2x3-pin and two 2x4-pin connectors for ATI CrossFireX™ technology in dual mode)1"

I don't know how it compares to the nVidia 200 range size-wise but the card itself is 30cm long and about 3cm thick and weighs an absolute ton. The two power connectors on the card are down facing so you don't have to worry about extra space at the end of the card for cabling.

Good work on convincing the missus :)

Ok first off spill the tactic that convinced the missus because that could be so useful for many of us in the future :D. On my tsunami dream case i fitted my X2 in but had to move a hard drive to a five and a quarter bay with a convertor thing and it has about 2mm space from the drive cage. Had it running on a 700w kingwin that failed quite quickly though they are not the best brand in the world but other's have them running on 620w corsairs so depends on what psu you have and how good the 12v rail is as to whether you need to get a new psu.
