X3:TC CTD Steam help!

Hi all,

Bought X3:TC from steam the other day, and it crashes with a generic windows message very time i try to run it.

Tried verfying cahce loads of times, always comes up clean.

got all latest drivers, spec in Sig.

Tried run as admin, and compatibility mode.

any ideas?

Could you post the error your getting?

if I remember correct some people had problems due to too many codec’s installed and sound drivers not up to date

You got quite a few codec’s installed?

Could be ffdshow, which X3TC really doesn't like, so if you've got this from any codec pack, it would be good to disable it for X3:

Well, oddly i have few codecs, and none of the ones that X3 dislikes.

I clicked a few random things in the settings, and now it works, but only with some really odd graphical settings
