hey guys recently bought this game after reading some reviews of it, game is absolutely massive with it and i am well impressed with it!!

ok so after playing it for 15 - 20 hours the game starts stalling doesnt matter how much avtivity is going on in the system.

ime thinking that my computer shouldnt be a problem. has latest drivers and patches ime fairly sure of.

system is.
ASUS ROG Rampage 2 extreme
6 gb Corsair XMS3
i7 920 overclocked to 4ghz
XFX 5870
2 x velociraptors in Raid 0 (600gbs)
1 x WD caviar black (750gb)
blue ray player
supreme x fi soundcard (with motherboard)
g11
g35
g9
z5500
track ir 5
x52 pro
HAF 932

any help on the matter extremely appreciated
 
Are you up to patch 2.7.1? they patched a lot of issues out.

There is a known issue where if you play the game for a long time in one go it does have issues, normally solved by saving and restarting.
 
Think i got 2.7 anyway. ill have a better look when i get home. bloody annoying though cause this is an unbelievable game and gonna be pretty crap if i can only get so far in and then stalls/crashes every time
 
ya i think so anyway. 2.7 i know i have, i also have the retail version not steam.

i really hope to get this going properly because some of the concepts in this game (openendedness!!) if thats a word is just class.

ok i have 2.7.1

save game is 9.72 MB (The folder is 114) dont think that makes a difference anyway but thought id add it.

not sure about scripts, dont think so, are these to help with ships adding buying moving selling and the like? if so i havent any running.

stalling, when i get to a certain point, this about my 6th game about 20 odd hours in roughly owning between 6 and 12 ships in each of em, mostly haulers, does not matter which system i am in or what activity is on screen that i can make out, it freezes. i cannot input anything music normally goes into a loop.

has been lasting between 5 secs and 2-3 minutes, then sometimes doesnt come back at all so i CTRL-ALT-DEL
 
So realy sounds more like a Crash.
Try running it in window mode a bit see what happens and keep an eye on what the games doing eg.. CPU wise does it spike when it does this like the game is trying to work something out
And if you got a jump drive jump to an unknown Sector and let it run for a bit and see what happens

Also www.egosoft.com is your friend with this :) there fourm is full of ppl that will be able to help better as it realy only for these games :)

BTW you can add X3 to your steam games just add ur cd key like you would any steam key :)
 
Do you have fddshow installed? this is known to cause problems.

You could also try lowering your overclock and see if that makes any difference.

Failing that check out the egosoft website. I has a dedicated tech support section.
 
cpu doesnt seem to spike much at all, RAM usage seems to be between .8 and 1.2 GB.
times though when i leave the game it works itself out, other times it does crash so its somewhere between crash/stall.

ok ill try uninstall then reinstall and add it to steam and let that handle the updates?

have had a quick sift through the egosoft website found similiar problems but nothing exact that i could see, on here quite a bit so just said id drop a quick note about it anyway.
 
Its a video\audio codec pack. if you dont know what it is you probably dont have it installed.

It will have a setup program somewhere, one of the options is to exclude programs.
