X360 crashed leaving white dots and lines

Hi,
I just booked up my xbox360 with Fifa 07, I ahven't played for a week so there was an update. Downloaded the update, restarted and it crashed at the Fifa menu, a load of vertical lines and white dots. Tried again and same thing. I tried Crackdown and got the same thing. Anyone else get this problem?

I remember hearing about the Microsoft extended warranty, is that for UK too? I will give them a call tomorrow when I get a chance.
 
Mine did this. It's hardware failure.

I took mine back to the retailer and they swapped it there and then. All pre-new cooling design consoles have 3 years warranty in the UK.
 
sounds the same as what happened to mine then i got 3 red lights,i would just phone ms and say your getting 3 red light's and get them to sort it.My 360 was out of warranty by 3 months but they said they would repair for £80 but i said id rather buy a new console so then the lady on phone told me to hold then a few mins later she said i could get it done free as a good will gesture, then 2 weeks later they announced they were extending the warranty to 3 years.I would just say to ms that your getting the 3 red lights after a couple of mins of turning it on and let them sort it.
