Hi, just started playing a few demos and well they run really low fps! Saints Row, Tomb Raider and a couple of others just run slow - is it just the demos that run this slow or the actual game? They don't run slow always but saints row has a hell of a lot of slow down.

Saints Row and Tomb Raider were one of the first couple of demos that I tried, and to be honest they're the worst for framerates, Tomb Raider especially was poor.

Try Lost Planet or PGR3 and you'll see decent framerates and coding.

both the games you mention have obvious frame rate issues in places, especially SR. Tomb Raider does it with water quite a bit. Poor I know :(

i know what you mean, played the rainbow six demo and it suffered from stutters and slow down quite a bit, went out and bought the real thing and its fine :)

You went and bought it even though you noticed problems with the demo?! Fair enough that the retail is fine as you suggest, but LOL

They're notorious for being slow (especially Saints Row) as you have to remember they will be based on beta builds and performance tuning comes in the last month or two.

Also remember they use lower res (smaller size) textures in many of the demos, Prey being one, to lessen the download size.

Both the games you mention play great though Saints Row has some occasional tearing. It never bothered me enough spoil the experience in any way.

So just to confirm - Saints Row runs just as slow the full game as the demo?

And wouldn't using low textures in the demos make the demos run faster if anything?

No,

The full game is much better. There is slowdown in a couple of places, but no way near as bad as the demo. And there is minimal tearing in the full game (still evident in a few cut scenes). That demo was very poor. I am glad I did not let it put me off buying the full game.

Thanks, thats fantastic to hear, I don't mind slowdown in the cut scenes aslong as its not in the game, GOW has terrible slowdown in the cutscenes but runs really good on my xbox 360 (and everyone elses i bet its not like a pc where we have different specs lol).
Just wondering, why does GOW run so slow on the cutscenes but when you play it in the same scenary it's fine?

I found the full game of Saints Row was much smoother than the demo, then after the update it's almost as bad again :(

Discussing stuttering is fruitless as everyone interprets it in a different way.

I thought Saints Row for the majority of the time was perfectly acceptable, obviously others either have a problem with their console or they are seeing the same stutters and make more of them.

HATE YOU ALL can't make my mind up, i'm going to get it and hope for the best.

Its one of the best games I've played on the 360, and I've probably played most. Unless your an absolute mega fusspot over stuttering, you should love it.

Nah i'm not, just found some of the slowdown on the demo ridiculous considering how much better gow looks and runs.

Have you tried CoD3 - a great game IMO. :)

Had Saints Row, but never really thought it was that good a game.

In Saints Row defense, it does have to render large, outdoor environments. Something that GoW doesn't have to do, so the graphical detail can be ramped up.

I should give Saints Row another go. Started playing and then stopped as I found it pretty boring to be honest.

I only get a bit of slow texture loading on co-op... no cutscene slowdown on SP.
