Canopus ProCoder v2.04

Has anyone used this application.
Curious on its performance for converting .TS - WMV9

Ive tested several applications and although have found it posible to convert many video formats to WMV for Media Centre Playback or playing from Disc or USB device.

Seems a popular request in finding whats the:

1) Simplest Way Of Converting
2) Guarnteed results
3) Fast

Anyone interested in getting to the bottom of this with a little joint effort?

Can someone please try "Option 2"

1. Convert your file to a DVR-MS format using tsConverter
2. Use the DVR-MS file (mpeg mediacenter file) with Microsofts Windows Media Encoder convert it to wmvhd.

Im going to look further into Canopus but appeciate if any of you chaps can help out...

im not sure what you guys are after exactly

but i use Videora Xbox360 Converter for converting my media to xbox 360 friendly files

nice n quick but makes mega bloaty files but i havent really checked it out properly

Yeh i have that also and found it really good. Only problem being is it converts to MPEG and im after WMV :o

Appreciate the response..

Really want to get to the bottom of this even though at various times new apps may arrive. It would be good to know what the best options are as of now.

Encoder 360 is another option
This will produce good results but it takes approx 12x the running time to convert a file. Ive been testing it pretty much for most of today converting
to 720p and 1080p WMV at various bitrates.

Canopus converts to WMV-HD, 720p and 1080p with 5.1 and 7.1 sound.
and other various formats, divx, xvid, mpeg etc...

Small update:

Just to post that i burned a UDF DVD disc which contained several
HD-DVD 1080p trailers.

These trailers are encoded with a reasonable
8000kbs video and 348 audio bit rate

Xbox 360 works fine with these playing from disc giving full 5.1 and no drop outs or lip sync issues. So this dispells any doubts/queries if 1080p from a standard DVD disc would create any problems as ultimately regards converting this is what we want to be able to achieve.

Playback should work just as well from a USB device containing the WMV files but as yet i cant confirm this.

XVID AVI Feature Lengh File = 699MB

Video resolution approx 624x336
Total bitrate 152kbs

---------------------------------------

Converted to WMV9 = 2.06GB
(3000kbs for video may be enough on this file type and would achieve a smaller file size)

Video upscaled to
1280x720 (720p) Average video bitrate 4500kbs
Audio Bitrate 384kbs

----------------------------------------

This may be overkill for XVID or DIVX style files but converting to a typical Video DVD would probably take as long and at least this way we can upscale the video beyond SD resolutions that DVD will use.
It may help increase picture quality on HDTVs but of course requires a decent quality of video to start with, dont expect miracles with poor quality video and upscaling.

if youer after a simple solution do on of the following

1: install the MS WMV 9 encoder, and then install WINAVI, just encode whatever to WMV and it will play just fine. a lot quicker then canopus too

2: or use transcode360
