Hi guys ive been considering getting an xbox360 also the misuses wants to part exchange the old xbox also we saw an advert in Argos for the Core system so does that mean (buy the parts yourself? ) or whatever or is it better to buy an xbox360 with parts added? Ive searched the forums and atm im not sure about getting one, almost every 360 post has been bad, either the games don’t work or the 360 drive is bad :P etc so what to go for? I know Sainsbury’s sell them and I get %10 off that, depends where I can get a good deal tbh.

Regards

I would imagine its personally choise but ihave just sold my Xbox 360 and wish i kept my normal xbox just a little longer, as there isnt any real killer games yet, imo.

There are two common types of post on OcUK about the 360.

1) Their 360 has died etc.
2) People asking if they should get one.

The key thing is what people say to the second, and you will find that 90% of the people are positive, usually very so. Scan back just a few days, I read several recently about people getting one and being surprised by it, and really happy with thier new purchase.

The key is the games, can you find 3 you really really want. Thats the cut off for me.

I'd definitely recommend getting one, but if you get the Core system then I'd advise buying a hard drive for it because then you can download a whole load of demos off of Live.

There are also some great games coming out in the next few weeks.

IMO not yet, wait until better games come out and they fix the apparently inherent reliability problems with a later revision.

No wait til christmas atleast. See what the others have to offer, unless you dont mind frame rates all over the place, tearing in just about every game, poor live support and dodgy lobby systems. If you can stand those things then buy now, if not wait to see what else comes up.

tbh you only have to read some of the threads from this forum. There are some amazing games out and some even better games due out in a few months. Personally i think the 360 is worth getting simply for the fact that Burnout Revenge and Dead or Alive 4 are amazing (imo).

Alternatively, you may be one of the people who has none of these issues.

On second thoughts, I'll grant you the GRAW lobby is a bit flaky at times.

I think it's worth getting but as some said, waiting till late may see a price decrease. It's unlikely but with PS3 launch around that period, I can't see why they would not drop the price.

The game selection is limited at the moment in my opinion as someone has already mentioned.

I have a high end PC which can run everything 1280*1024 with 2*AA at least for the more stressful games such as Oblivion and FEAR etc, but I can't have split screen multiplayer fun with friends like I have found with my new XBOX360.

Consoles are all about multiplayer fun with friends and family imo.

Having owned one since launch (but now needs repairing) I would say wait for a revised 360 as one must be in the pipeline with the amount of returns.

I also don't beleive there are enough AAA tittles out yet to make it a must have. I am seriously considering selling mine when i get a replacement and seeing our the PS3 pans out.

I agree, you do, but you don't see people posting going "Yay, my Xbox360 works!". :).
Despite all the problems people have had, those same people who've had them replaced still love the console! Thats how good it is.
I'd say go for it. I love mine.

People who say a console isn't worth getting for 1 game haven't played Xbox Live Burnout Revenge.

Hmmm, I had a PS1 and PS2 which I only found I used when my mates were round and I also tended to get bored of the games very very quickly.

I recently bought a 32" HDTV so I thought I'd pick up a 360 as well so I could begin to use my telly's potential prior to sky HD reaching an affordable price.

My expectations weren't that great initially but I really like my 360, particularly the live element.

You can get great games for between £18 and £30ish new if you don't rely on the high st

So far have really enjoyed PGR3, Burnout, Table Tennis and Tomb Raider

I think now would be a great time to buy as the majority of the current catalogue of 360 games can be bought online for great prices and there's a nice selection on their way in the next coming weeks too including Pro Evolution Soccer 6, Tiger Woods 2007, Dead Rising, Test Drive Unlimited etc. etc.

Yeah im considering selling mine now, been sitting here for months and months now just collecting dust, i got PGR3, King Kong, Condemned, GRAW and Tomb Raider Legend which ive only gotten a couple of levels in, when i first got it i was on it all the time, but now the fads wore off, as i say i may sell it as i can always get anotehr one when the killer games start appearing like GOW etc... as at the moment theres just nothing, i wish id waited now till there was more decent games out, still no harm done.

Well i have a high end PC so FEAR / Oblivion are fine, the misuses don’t have a high end pc to run games on only a laptop which can just run lotr games. She does play tomb raider quite a bit on the xbox and sims2 thinking I might wait as I have faith in the ps3 but I might just get both … then ill have to get a HD TV heheh
