first post so hopefully you guys can help me out?

got a x38 dq6 and been using some old ram until i could afford some new faster ram.

trouble is there are not many 4gb matched pairs at 1066 (makes you wonder why the motherboard manufactures make the boards)

would the OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-8000C5 1000MHz ReaperX HPC Enhanced Bandwidth Edition Dual Channel DDR2 (OCZ2RPX10004GK) be any good/compatible with the x38 dq6?

cheers

Hi and welcome :)

Any particular reason why you want PC8500?

And G.Skill do a good 2x2gb PC2-8000 kit for ~£85, tho not here for some reason.

i didn't want to mess around buying 6400's then later buy some 8500's.

saying that though, trying to find 2 x 2GB 8500's is like trying to find rocking horse s%$t!

they were the fastest ones i could find that weren't £300+

Yeah 2x2gb of PC8500 is rare, tho Muskin does some for a small fortune.

The OCZ you mention in the first post should be fine, or have a look around for the 4gb G.Skill PC2-8000 PQ kit.

i saw some for £450, as i'm saving for the board, a q6600, two drives for a raid and vista my wallet isn't exactly brimming over at the moment.

i have seen some of the ocz's i mentioned elsewhere for £89 on a special offer, but that will probably be over by the time i get paid.
