X38 Motherboard pre-order

was prepared to pay about £150 for one of these boards, with Gigabyte boards usually cheaper than the rest i dread to think how much the likes of Asus will be charging.

Not going to buy it at that price. Will probaiblly be cheaper when it arrives though. Pre-order prices and all that. ;)

I am sure it is true! I have some X38 boards and performance really SUCKS! Compared to P35 ... todays X38 is the same like P35 with only some more PCI Express lanes. If Intel want to attack high-end nForce will need really monster-chipset and this is not a X38 ...for now.

And from that its a no.

I might wait and see what happens with X48 or just order a DFI P35 next week.

Who would preorder one of those at that price without knowing any of the spec of it or the spec of the other boards coming out?

Tbh i cant see these boards selling if they will be at that price.

They will sell if they support SLi; these boards obviously support dual 16x PCI-E 2.0 slots, which is much better than the P35. Look at the ASUS Striker Extreme, £250 at launch, sold incredibly well. Also, if you're spending £700+ on 2x 8800 GTX's or Ultras, then a £200 mainboard isn't that expensive in comparison

Here are the specs

The picture on OcUK is of the DDR3 board and not the DDR2 board just so you know!

Its probably only at such a high price because ocuk are one of the few allowing pre-order therefore there is no one to compete for them in price. it will drop in price probably when the others come out.

It has changed now to the one I posted.

Get your card out Freddie :p
