So I stuck an Athlon II X4 635 on my board yesterday for a slight upgrade and tonight I thought ah why not and stripped the whole thing down, dusted it out, redid thermal paste and cables etc. Randomly ran Coretemp about 40 mins ago and it was at 67c so I shut it down then checked the heatsink and it was warm sure but not 67c. I installed Speedfan and HWMonitor, had them both open at the same time and ran Prime95 for a quick 20 minutes. Coretemp and Speedfan both reported the core as about 82c and the cpu temp as about 78c.
On HWMonitor TMPIN0 reports a min of 44c and a max of 61c under the temperatures section, but the temperatures under the core section give a min of 40c and a max of 73c? Not exactly sure what temps I should be believing here but TMPIN0 seems to be the one that seems most realistic to me? I've read TMPIN0 reports the bios temp and I'd be more inclined to believe that but I'm not 100% on this stuff hence the topic. I closed Coretemp on accident but here's screens from Speedfan/HWMonitor.
It's an Athlon II X4 935 stock clocks with an Akasa AM2 cooler/AS5, Asus M2N68-AM SE2, Sapphire Radeon 6850 1GB, 4GB RAM and an Antec 500w inside an NZXT Source 220 with stock NXXT 120mms as intake and exhaust. Any advice on this would be great, cheers
