X4 - Timelines trailer

Still not played the others despite buying all the DLC lol. Might be a good example of a game I think I would really enjoy if only I could be bothered to go through the learning curve.
However, now I got my HOSAS so maybe.

Just had a very quick go with the joysticks, so much more immersive, might be what I need to kickstart me on it because god knows I CBA with the elite dangerous binding issues.

Ive played all the x games except the latest one, i have it and all the dlc thats out so far but havent had the motivation get into it yet. I also have just got a full hosas setup which is still in the box as i cba setting it all up yet. Is x4 hosas friendly?

Yes. It can identify separate sticks.

played so much x3 back in the day. do wonder if I'll still be pulled in without having the chance to do those 12 hour play sessions.

IMO its much better than elite dangerous.

I did play that a few hundred hours as well, but X4 is much better.

I don't see them as the same really, Elite has the on-foot stuff that I have only played the tutorial of which played much like an FPS should, and is more 'simmy', whereas the X series always struck me as a sort of 4x in space/empire building. One minor (but big to me) thing about X4 is that space is actually black/dark, Elite seems too bright.

X games really reward those who can sink a lot of time into it, the learning curve is initially steep and the game engine can cripple CPU's (the last game I played was X3:TC, pretty sure the game was single threaded). One of my favourite things to do was setup a Space Weed farm, let it fill up product then allowing one of the AI ships to dock and buy everything. Once they left I would wait nearby with a fighter and a police licence, scan them and start attacking them until they dropped the cargo they just bought from me at which point I would scoop it up and resell it. Worked every time!.
