Just upgrade my MB today to an Asus Rampage Formula X48.

When I installed the MB drivers from the disk I noticed it was installing X38 INF drivers. Is this right?
Would have though X48 drivers would have been better for this board?

Says that the x48 is basically a speed-binned x38 chipset.

What do you think of that then or is that bull?

If it's the case then I guess the x38 drivers would work fine for it until the mobo manufacturer get's their act together and changes the driver's names at the very least.

Another bit of info I read . 'Intel have launched a brand new chipset called the X48 which appears to be exactly the same as X38 but with the addition of the 1600MHz FSB' - which just imo clarifies things and hope it helps .

At least your mobo should work fine on the chipset - until they name it x48 or put some improvements to the driver so then you can have that one instead...what do you think?

They use exactly the same chipset drivers. Told you there's very little to gain from X48 over X38. I think you will find that the same chipset inf's are for the P35 as well.

Just upgraded to a Gigabyte GA-EX38-DS5 and the installation disc says drivers for P35,X38 & X48.
I have heard like the pastymuncher and VortexA1 says there is very little difference between the 2 chipsets except about £40.00 :p

Rob :D
