It's car change time. Actually it's past time, the balloon payment went out on my current car this week.

I've started a couple of threads on here over the past couple of months, debating things from older range rovers / sports or a move to a Cayenne or a Macan (or if I had my way entirely then a non-Suv could be on the cards) but all that aside, I think we've decided on another X5.

I have a contact at BMW finance who is able to do me a good deal again and I can contract hire without BIK as I am a partner in an LLP.

So the X5 is pretty well specced as standard but I think M Sport is probably worth it for the electric seats, looks and wheels. The entertainment type stuff seems fine as is with professional nav but I think one peg up on the speakers (business) is probably worth it. I also want a panoramic roof as I like the light.

Anything I am really missing out on with just those options? I'd quite like 3rd row seating but only remember using it two or three times in the last 3 years I've had it.

What the overall cost of ownership not be much lower over say 3 years if you took a bank loan and bought a Macan?

Also if you buy a Cayenne hybrid you are allow 100% depreciation in the first year.

Cost of ownership probably would be less to buy a Macan but this puts the lending off either my personal books or the companies. It feels pretty neat and easy this way (but that's not necessarily the priority!)

How does the depreciation write off work with a hybrid if you are financing it?

The Problem with a Macan is ordering the dammm thing, they are on a long back order from what I have heard at the moment.:(

This is true but Dr H put me in touch with someone who can potentially help with that.

Yes as Skidder said I put him in touch with a OPC dealer that had one sitting there and ready to go but I know another guy that has 3 of them for sale at only a couple of K over list

My wife is now just gone self employed. So how does this work? Never bought a car through a business before, so not sure of the ins and outs.

Well I don't know if the rules have changed now but when we ordered the car is used for 75% business use (its actually a bit more but we put it down to 75%) so if the car cost £100k, we claimed £75k against her income that year reducing her tax bill by £30k

My attempt at humour failed. :(

Sorry its like 38"C here today so I am only half with it and your humor went right over my head :D

Yeah I looked again last night.

I think I probably will get an X5, I do like them. I do keep getting drawn to getting a late last model range rover and saving some money (two things that have never been said in the same sentence before).

Well if you want to save money the Panamera is the way to go but it's a very different car but after discounts and 5k grant it's going to work out very well
