X52 Pro Or Something Else ?

I tried an X52 Pro out at a mates house and loved it in Elite Dangerous, So much more precise over a M+K but 1 thing I am worried about is quality control, I know Logitech bought Saitek out but Saitek generally sucked big time when it came to build quality.

How is the x52 Pro for long term use i.e 8+ months ?
 
Personally I'd go for danoliver1's suggestion. The T16000 is far more accurate than the X52/X52Pro (they have slightly different internals look similar externally).

X52 Pro will be fine for 5 years + if you get a decent one, but that's the problem like the X55/X56 there are good and bad ones.

I emailed Logitech and if bought through their site all X52 Pro stock is Logitech made, All Saitek stock is gone so faults should be non existent,

I like the look of the T16000M as well but according to several reviews it feels slightly cheap as it's very light.
 
CH combat and fighter sticks are also "light" but arguably some of the best you can get and easier to use for prolonged periods as you aren't fighting against the stick trying to recentre.

if you want looks and heavier throw the x55,x56 and warthog are the only mainstream sticks to look at.

lastly Logitech made doesn't help if they are using the same flawed internals or manufacturing processes as Saitek.
 
Mine is still working 4 years on and had no problems :)

Get inside it and get the wiring protected before it breaks as it will break! Mine is the same age and I lost a control on the throttle quadrant recently and on checking the wiring is all messed up inside. Had it been protected better it'd have not been an issue. My X52 pro has had average use and is well looked after, i.e. not bounced off the stops, slammed open / shut etc.

Reading through issues the X55 and X56 suffer similar issues. Might as well just pay the extra £80 and get the Thrustmaster Warthog. This is what I'm currently pondering over. Using simulators is what I mostly use my PC for game wise so I want a stick that'll last now.

Halfmad I looked at the CH stuff and whilst the stick is OK their throttle quadrant doesn't have enough functions on it for me sadly :(

I have the CH kit for Elite.
How many functions do you need?
On the Pro Throttle alone I have 80 commands and I don't even use the ministick. Add in the Fighterstick and I have 200. Multiply that by three profiles. All because of the three finger buttons on the throttle front... and I still have more I could implement!
 
On my X52 throttle I use Z-axis for throttle, X rotation for fuel mixture, Y rotation for prop pitch and the slider is for air brakes. None of these can be used as an on/off function (button). It's not the amount of buttons / commands required it's the fact I need axis.

The CH sticks have an additional pair of axis wheels that can be assigned to trim, mixtures, radio volume and the like.
I don't play sims so much, but I know others use them as such. Plus you have the three profiles which each have (potentially, through the software) multiplier keys for the existing five axes (X, Y, Z and two on the ministick) - That's, what, 84 axes, potentially...? I thought Windows could recognise up to something like 8 axes and 36 buttons per device?
I guess it depends how into the setup of scripting and in-game tweaking you wanna get.
