We have been looking to upgrade our 3DS Max workstations for a while, but I have been holding off hoping for an Intel price drop on the 6 core Xeons, specifically the X5660 in dual configuration.
It must be 6 months now and they have stubbonly stayed the same price, even increasing slightly depending on the exchange rate.
Obviously Intel is milking their postion as there's no real opposition to these processors currently, but surely the price must be due to come down soon.
Anybody know if theres an anticipated price realignment due?
Given the Sandybridge is initially aimed at i7 replacements I'm hoping the price isn't going to stick until the Xeon version comes out as we need to buy 16 of the things
