First off, the Gigabyte BIOS is quite poor compared to Asus.
Any way I digress. I was trying to set my ram frequency manually and found out that I needed to turn on the XMP profile first before it would read the manual timings I put in to the bios.
When I didn't enable XMP, if I set the timings manually and the FCLK and boot in to windows the PC would tell me the frequency was 2133MHz. As soon as I enabled XMP (I have 3200MHz ram) it would display the manual timings I had entered in to the BIOS of 3600MHz.
Does that sound right to all you Gigabyte mobo owners?
With my previous ASUS board I did not have to enable XMP for my manual timings to take effect.
