X570 Crosshair VIII PCIe slot configuration question

I have a Crosshair VIII Hero running a Ryzen 5950x with a 3090 in PCIe slot 1, two M.2 drives onboard (one in PCIe mode), and USB3 card in the PCIe 1x slot if I add a sound card to PCIe slot 3 (the one closest the edge of the board) will PCIe slot 1 still run in x16 mode?

The manual is not very clear, but it looks like the answer is no, unless you can change the bifurcation in the bios.
