When is this chipset going to be released...as i plan to purchase a Mobo within the next few weeks (2weeks)..

what is known about these boards and why are they so highly rated??

i've read certain things but they dont seem to be that extraordinary..

from what i understand DFI has already produced X48+ICH10R with the LANParty LT X48-T3R.

Also the new cpu's are going to have a different socket and cost a lot(due to their 8-cores) are they worth purchasing or is for those who
need extreme performance..? :)

i believe that this year they will only launch the extreme chips which will cost an arm and a leg, probably some other extremeties as well.

I though the LGA1066 and LGA1166 cannot overclock but LGA1366 can.

That has been said in many places, as the LGA1366 supports the Bloomfield processors, but I don't think anyone outside the inner circle knows how it's going to work with the new bus architecture.

I was waiting as well but when I saw that the CPU is around £1.1K-1.3K + you need obviously 3 x DDR3 Ram as its triple channel now + the new motherboard the cheapest it would cost you would be around the £1.7K mark so as nothing really needs this think I will wait until mid 2009 and the costs come down.

By spring 09 things should be cheaper and affordale to all :) however few months later the Octocores arrives and even more expensive ;)

why would you need Octocore i can't see the point right now:confused:, for encoding a quad core will do the job..and for games they are just starting to use quad cores.. I'll wait till the price comes down and there are more boards out and better reviews of them... plus the overclocking ability of the chips...

1) End of the year.

2) Because Nehalem is going to kick Core 2 butt.

3) Uh-huh. X58 is not the same as X48.

4) Yes, new sockets. Booo.
