Hi, I'm new to the forum,

I've just recently done a small upgrade on my PC and thought I'd join a forum and share it with some like minded people.

beforehand i was still using an i7 920 C0, so needed to get that gone as it was agedly slow. i also had an SSD but never actually put windows on it so i did that too. New case as well. ill share my specs :)

Intel Xeon X5675 6 core x58 (yeah im not going that crazy), i got this off eBay for a whole £30 including postage - bearing in mind in 2012 when this was new till around 2014, it was still £1400. what a saving. it runs flawlessly.

Gigabyte X58-Ud3r rev.1 motherboard, still going strong, ive had this the best part of 10 years, and had an i5 760 on a gigabyte running 4.4ghz on air, it was a little beast!

6GB super talent ram - this was the stuff in yesteryear. sadly 6gb isnt cutting it so im hunting for a 12gb triple channel kit.

Nvidia GTX 460 - this is definitely going ASAP - but im not sure, maybe for a 1050Ti.

Custom EK water cooling setup - corsair fittings, corsair tubes and white coolant

Thermaltake Versa c22 white RGB - ive set the lights to blue, to match motherboard etc, cables in white braids etc.

Viewsonic 32" 2K display and a goodmans soundbar i got from asda.

Here are some pics :)

Looks very clean. I like the white and black with blue accents from the mobo.

Thanks, the graphics card and SATA cables are blue as well, and I’ve set the lighting in the case to blue to tie it all in together

Crank that CPU up to 4.6ghz, those old xeons are just begging for it!

It’s already on the table, it’s a used chip for £30 so I’m just testing it as standard for a week or so before I twist it’s balls

I tried to play gta v yesterday and my graphics card struggles so badly at 1080p so I’m looking at used gtx980’s on eBay

I had a x5670 @4.4 with a 1070ti and it chewed through games with no bottleneck whatsoever. Having the 6/12 cores threads gives it a big advantage especially in the 1% lows over i5s many generations infront on modern games that make use of those threads.

i don’t have 1070ti money lol I’m just buying everything second hand. I know it’s a gamble but it’s paid off so far, £30 for the Xeon and it’s leaps and bounds over my old c0 920, I’m wondering what to do with it now though...

I’m looking at x58 based HTPC! I love x58 though there’s a charm about it, it’s like the drunk uncle at family gatherings just doing its own thing!
